## Monday, March 24, 2014 - Mean, Median, Mode, Range, Interquartile Range (IQR), Box Plot and Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD)

**Bell Work**- Complete problems #1-5.

**Classwork**- Bell work from the previous week was returned. Students received 50 out of 100 points for completing bell work and turning it in last Friday. They used this work to answer questions 1-5 from the Bell Work Quiz: March 17 to 21, to earn the remaining 50 points. Quiz questions directly reflected questions completed during bell work last week. Students who were absent will be exempted from questions for that day, but this will not occur next week.

**For Quarter 4,**

__all students__are required to make up their bell work when they are absent. Students__will not__be exempted from questions they missed when absent. After the quiz, students practiced finding the mean absolute deviation using problems from "MAD Practice." The solutions are posted below. Review the steps using the following video link.

**Homework**- Complete problem #7 of the MAD practice posted above. Write a few sentences describing the variation (what the MAD means).

## Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - Histograms and More

**Bell work**- Complete problems 6-10.

**Classwork**- Homework from last night was reviewed - problem 7 of MAD practice set. The solution is posted below.

**Classwork (continued)**- Students practiced creating and analyzing histograms using the following task sheet, "Histogram Practice." Histograms are special bar graphs that involve statistical data (not categorical) and intervals.

## Wednesday, March 26, 2014 - Unit 6 Test: Statistics

**Bell Work**- Complete problems 11-15.

**Classwork**- Histograms were checked and individual feedback given when necessary. After reviewing bell work, students took the Unit 6 Test. We will begin Unit 7: Rational Explorations tomorrow.

**Homework**- None! Get ready for Unit 7!

## Thursday, March 27, 2014 - Integers, Opposite Numbers and Absolute Value

**Bell Work**- Complete problems 16 - 20.

*****Problems 1-25 for this week will be due this Friday**, so please get them ready and make sure you have everything in order. If the images below are too small, hold down your control button and press the + sign to make the screen image larger. You can adjust your screen image by continuing to press the + or - button.

**Classwork**- We explored the connection between integers, opposites and absolute value, and used positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts. Use the following PowerPoint to complete the notes. Then complete the practice pages below.
