## Spring Intersession - No school February 16 - 20th.

## Monday, February 23, 2015 - G1 and 4. I can identify solid figures by their nets and characteristics. I can find the surface area of solid figures using their nets and characteristics.

**Bell Work**- Review Unit 3: Expressions - Using Performance Coach Book: p.201-202 #1-5.

**Classwork**

(1) 3d Figures Quiz using Book of Solids was returned. Students had already self-assessed this task.

(2) Book of Solids was returned. Students reviewed the characteristics, nets, 3-d figure, and application of 5 solids - rectangular prism, cube, triangular prism, rectangular pyramid, and triangular pyramid. Please pay closer attention to project details. Points missed were mainly due to not reading and/or following directions.

(3) Began GADOE Finding Surface Area Task. Will finish on Tuesday.

**Homework**- No new homework. Graded Surface Area Practice Sets A - F were returned. All work must support the correct solutions that were given in class. Work that does not support the correct solution received no credit. Today was the deadline for these sets. If you did not turn in your work, you can still do so tomorrow for a late grade. Be ready for a short quiz over "Area of Composite Figures #1-16." See last week for a copy of the assignment and solutions for #1-8.

**Classwork -**Finish GADOE Finding Surface Area Task.

**Homework**- No new homework. Finish "Surface Area Practice Sets A-F" and "Area of Composite Figures #1-16". See last week for a copy of these assignments.

## Wednesday, February 24, 2015 - G1 and 4. I can identify solid figures by their nets and characteristics. I can find the surface area of solid figures using their nets and characteristics. G2. I can find the volume of a rectangular prism using the area of its base and its height.

**Bell Work**- Review Unit 4 Equations using the Performance Coach Book p.211-212 #2-6.

**Classwork**

(1) FInish GADOE Finding Surface Area Task

(2) Area of Composite Figures Practice #1-16 assessed.

(3) Begin exploring volume with "How Many Ways?" using 24 centimeter cubes.

**Homework**- If you can, complete "Fish Tank Math" on the back of GADOE Finding Surface Area Task. We will continue exploring volume in the next class. You can wait until after the next lesson to complete this assignment. I will not check for completion of this assignment, tomorrow.

## Thursday, February 25, 2015 - School cancelled due to weather.

## Friday, February 26, 2015 - G2. I can find the volume of a rectangular prism using whole and fractional side lengths.

**Bell Work**- Review Unit 4 Equations using the Performance Coach Book p.213-215 #7 - 11.

**Classwork**

(1) GADOE Finding Surface Area Task was graded, returned and reviewed.

(2) Finish "How Many Ways?" - Task A - finding volume using 24 centimeter cubes by creating different bases and heights. How can we be sure we have found every possible combination? What do all the rectangular prisms have in common?
