(2) Began "Rectangle WrapAround" to create formulas for finding the area of parallelograms and triangles.
(3) Tangram Project details given and briefly discussed. Polygon A was used an example for naming and showing perimeter.

Begin Foldable Notes Project to understand the formulas used to find the area of rectangles and parallelograms.

Highlight the height. To find the height, look for the dimension that is perpendicular to the base. The base and height always make a right angle.

Decompose the parallelogram along the height.

Move this triangular piece to the other side of the parallelogram.

Notice that this rearrangement makes a rectangle. Using the same dimensions to find the area of the rectangle can be used to find the area of the parallelogram.

Bell Work  Tangram project due today and was collected. Students turned in bell work for the week for 60 points and the remaining 40 points earned through answering correctly today's questions.
