## Wednesday, October 8, 2014 - NS.1 and NS.3 - I can multiply and divide decimals. I can translate fraction models and division expressions.

Modified schedule for this year's first pep rally!

**Bell Work**- Create matches using Set 1 of Fraction Model Madness. Students labeled the back of each card, so that they could use them for review. Each fraction model was labeled with the corresponding expression. Each expression and translation card was labeled with the corresponding letter of the fraction model.**Classwork**

(1) Select students worked on

**. Students corrected their work and received one-on-one conferencing. These scores will replace previous ones. The dividing with decimals quiz was never posted on Infinite Campus. Overall, students needed more time to practice, which seemed to pay off because the scores were much higher this time!**

__reassessments for multiplying and dividing with decimals__(2) Students who did not need to take these reassessments worked on one or more of the following: (1) creating set 2 of Fraction Model Madness, (2) completing number system vocabulary, or (3) miscellaneous logic puzzles, (4) SAT/ACT lessons and practice problems.

**Homework**- Priority - finish multiplying and dividing with decimals assessments. Due at the beginning of class - final deadline. Then, finish number system vocabulary and study them. Drill with Fraction Model Madness set 1 and set 2.

## Thursday, October 9, 2014 - RP.1 and RP.2 - I can write different ratios and in three different forms using the same information.

**Bell Work**- GCF, LCM, ratios and rate.

**Classwork**

(1)

__- Pair up with a friend and throw a paper ball into an empty wastebasket 10 times each. Record your results and express them in whole number, fraction, and ratio forms. Reduce when possible. Find the following ratios: (1) shots scored out of total shots, (2) shots scored to shots missed, (3) player 1 shots to player 2 shots.__

**Paper Balls**(2)

**: GCF/LCM extra credit, multiplication and division of decimals quizzes (2nd attempt), GCF/LCM/distributive property test, dividing fractions quiz, and final exam.**

__Graded work returned and reviewed__**Homework**- Study vocabulary and fraction models - set 1.

## Friday, October 10, 2014 - RP.1 and RP.2 - I can write different ratios and in three different forms using the same information.

**Bell Work**- review and activate - gcf, lcm, ratio, and rate.

**Classwork**

(1)

**were graded and returned. Reminders were given regarding work: (1) pay attention to the ratio being asked. The first two ratios should be different: (a) shots made to total shots, (b) shots missed to shots made; (2) don't forget to put the ratio in simplest form (the two amounts being compared share no other common factor besides one).**

__Score sheets from the paper ball task__(2) Complete the task regarding

**. Use the ratio of one red to two yellow to complete the table.**

__red, yellow, and orange paint cans__(3) Watch

**over ratios.**

__Brain Pop Video__(4) Complete the

**. Students wrote ratios for given comparisons in three ways and created different ratios using their data.**

__Fruit Loop Task__(5) Complete the

**over ratios. Only 1st and 2nd period discussed and reviewed their answers as a class. 3rd period completed this in group and turned in the assignment.**

__Brain Pop Quiz__(6) 1st and 2nd period completed the

**.**

__Bizarre Middle School Task__**All students turned in (1) Fruit Loop lab sheet and (2) Brain Pop Quiz/Bizarre Middle School Task. This work will be graded for accuracy.**

**Homework**- 4th period - finish the fruit loop task. All students - study vocabulary and fraction models.
